The year didn't necessarily start the way we expected it to. Not with my stepfather in the hospital. And yet I can't complain, because he's doing much better now.
He is now healing from his surgery, spent 2 days in the ICU but slowly but surely he is healing.
Around 12 o'clock I was a bit surprised with all the fireworks in Suriname, because I expected that because of the bad economic situation less money would be wasted on fireworks. Yet you could see infinite colors shooting into the sky and bangs could be heard everywhere.
It only made me a little emotional. I'm glad I'm alive and well, but I didn't imagine this New Year's Eve to be like this. In my mind I had to think about all the people who would have liked to see the light of day in 2022, but did not get the chance.
And as emotional as that makes me, on the other hand it also gives me a sense of gratitude and the strength to persevere and enjoy this day, now that I have been given the chance.
I wish everyone a great, healthy and happy new year. May this year bring us all good times, financial and intellectual growth, laughter and much love.
