Color is symbolic of many things in life. Starting from the language to convey something, to the emotional side in it. But have you ever thought to look deeper into the use of color in your home?

Intro

I like certain colors alternate all the time. At first, I didn't realize that it was connected to my mood.

I love the color blue and didn't realize it was because I missed the sea and I needed relaxation.

Then at that time at the university, our language lecturer discussed the hidden language in color. Early people used special colors to convey something or create the character in their community.

And it turns out, color is quite influencing our mood, which is also connected with memory and the things we like. So this time I will talk about choosing colors for our homes that are used as a medium for relaxation.

Colors For Relaxing and Mood Enhancement

Call it the oceans and forests. Both visually and smell can calm us down. Then it is associated with blue and green colors.

These colors are proven to be calming and reduce stress.

We can bring these points into our homes. So the choice of colors for our homes is very important not only to beautify the building, but the most important thing is precisely the color therapy.

The Dmlights page says about color therapy:

Chromotherapy or colour therapy is based on the premise that colours and light can be used to correct physical ailments. Depending on the location and nature of the ailment a specific colour may ease it.
One of the first scientists to consider the effect of colours was August Pleasonton. In 1876 he published ‘The Influence of the Blue Ray of Sunlight and of the Blue Color of the Sky’ in which he studied how blue can stimulate the growth of plants and cattle. He also mentioned that this colour can help make the human body better. This book introduced chromotherapy into modern medicine.
Color therapy
Colour therapy should not be confused with light therapy. In light therapy a person is exposed to a bright white light over a certain time. Light therapy is often used to treat skin diseases (more specifically psoriasis), sleep disorders and certain psychic problems.

Recolor Your Room

Since colors affect our mood, we can consider re-selecting colors in your home or private workspace.

It's important to recolor your personal space or the room that you often use for activities.

Nowadays we are exposed to too much stress from the outside world, so we need something relaxing and mood therapy when already inside the house or entering our private room such as a bedroom or workroom.

I recolored my workspace. I adjust it to my mood and then I also learn about color therapy to make sure the color I want is the right color for my mental health.

This is my workspace where I spend a lot of time here. I chose pink, combined with a little blue. And also the addition of green accents by applying indoor plants.

Recommended Colors for Relaxing and Mood Up

To relax and improve our moods, we can connect colors to something that soothes us and energizes us. For example the sea, forest, sky, sunflowers, and so on.

There are colors that we can consider applying to our home or room.

I summarize from the Times Of India Website on these colors. Stay tuned!

1. Blue

This color stands true to its appearance. Peaceful, calm, and gentle, blue has tremendous power to manage stress. It's a very soothing color that helps calm your mind, slow down your heart rate, lower your blood pressure and reduce anxiety.

2. Green

Green is a restful and quiet color. Because it symbolizes nature, green is one of the most beautiful and comforting colors that attracts harmonious feelings that can diffuse anxiety and helps us stay calm and refreshed.

3. Pink

Pink is another color that promotes tranquility and peace. Feng Shui believes pink soothes various energies in a room and keep them understated. Its peacefulness promotes the balance of your energies

4. Yellow

If you want to jump-start your day on an energetic note, keep a significant 'yellow thing' in a prominent place at home. Or even better paint your yellow kitchen (in full or parts) because recent research found out that people in the yellow room appeared to be more active and conscious than people in other rooms.

5. White

White symbolizes clarity and freshness. It is the right color to be surrounded within times of stress, to get clarity of your thoughts. But remember that white needs to be a clean, bright white but not too stark because if it looks dirty and dull, your emotions can mirror the same dullness.

Apply On Walls and Room Accessories

The colors that you want to apply as a color therapy can not only be applied to the walls of your home. You can focus the color of your choice on room accessories.

For example sofas, mirrors, decorative lights, floors, carpets, and even indoor plants and etc.

You can use elements of art items such as paintings that are dominant in certain colors.

So for those of you who may not be able to change the color of your room at this time due to ownership, you can add accessories that are dominant in the color of your choice to make the color as a means of relaxation.

Reconsidering Memory

There are times when not all colors that are generally relaxing to others will work for you. You can become more depressed or have negative energy if you have a bad memory of certain colors.

Of course certain items with flashy colors in your bad times can affect your mental state right now, especially if you haven't tried to heal yourself from those bad times.

Those were some things about the importance of choosing colors in our homes for relaxation tools and also to improve our good mood.
