In today's teaching,I learnt that speaking in tongues after baptism does not garantte the sign of the holy spirit.
Speaking in tongues is not the primary sign of baptism.
Not everyone that is baptized is expected to speak in tongues because God has given each one of us different manner of gifts.
1 Corinthians 12:28 says: And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles,then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 says: Are all apostles?are all teachers?are all workers of miracles?
30 says: Have all the gifts of healing?do all speak with tongues?do all interpret?
So from the above verses of the bible we are made to understand that we all have different kinds of gifts,so we should work according to our gifts.
All the early Christains were baptized in one body, one spirit.
After the baptism some were given the above gifts.
1 Corinthians 12:13 says: For by one spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been made to drink into one spirit.
Speaking in tongues is prohibited if there is no interpreter.
1 Corinthians 14:27 says:If any man speak in an unknown tongue,let it be by two,or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
28 says: But if there be no interpreter,let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
1 Corinthians 14:9 says:So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
When one is baptized, love is the first sign of the presence of the holy spirit.
Galatians 5:22 says: But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 says: Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
1 Corinthians 13:1 says: Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have no charity,I am become as sounding brass,or a tinkling cymbal.
When we speak in an unknown tongue without love,we are decieving ourselves.
The title of High priest, Pastor, Apostle should not be apply to any man but only be accorded to christ.
Hebrews 3:1 says: WHEREFORE,holy brethren, partakers of the heavely calling, consider the Apostle and High priest of our profession, Christ Jesus.
What God gave to the apostles was not title but functions.
Ephesians 4:8 says: Wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high,he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto all men.
9 says:(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth.
10 says:He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things)
11 says: And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 says: For the perfection of the saints, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
So all the gifts given to men by God is for the edification of the body of Christ.
The church built by christ during his time was the church of God.
2 Thessalonians 1:4 says:So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
1 Timothy 3:15 says: But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
When we acknowledge our sin and repent from it, God said he will no longer remember our sin.
Hebrews 8:12 says: For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Matthew 6:14 says: For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly father will also forgive you.
If God can forgive us our sins,we should also forgive our fellow men.
