ACT 1 – SCENE 1
(Mr Daniel married a beautiful woman called Esther but Esther couldn’t give birth. In a furnished room, Esther and her mother in-law, Mrs Ichechuku are shouting at the top of their voices. Mr Daniel intervenes and calms them down. They start talking. Their dialogue goes thus:)
MR DANIEL: Mama, why are you fighting with my wife?
MRS ICHECHUKU: My son, (panting) she is a witch. She does not want to give birth so I can see my grand-children.
MR DANIEL: Mana, I have heard. My darling Esther, tell me your story.
MRS DANIEL: Honey, I was cleaning the furniture when mama came in. I greeted her but she wouldn’t answer, so I asked her what the problem was and she slapped me (crying). I asked her why she slapped me and she started calling me a witch, that I am eating my own children (sobs).
MR DANIEL: Mama, is that what happened?
MRS ICHECHIKU: Yes o. I even kicked her stomach.
MR DANIEL: What did you…
MRS DANIRL: (Interrupting) Honey!
MR DANIEL: What?
MRS DANIEL: Honey, I am bleeding
MR DANIEL: what? Oh my God!
(She is rushed to the hospital immediately. The doctor at the hospital confirms she is 5 months pregnant. Later, she gave birth to twins)
Act 2 – Scene 1
MR DANIEL: Esther darling, what joy you have given me with these children! I wanted a child but God has given me children. I love twins. Yeah. (Laughs)
