I watched a suicide of crows,
Murder a Raven,
Spasmodic death throes,
In plain daylights searchlight,
Their deceit so brazen,
And the wind buffeted still.
They flocked around coveting,
His gleaming dark sheen,
Then as one they pounced,
Stabbing his eyes with their lies,
Intent of murder and mean,
And the wind buffeted still.
He died on public display,
Discarded living detritus,
A blight across TV screens,
Then the suicide of crows,
Flew off for a photo call.
And the wind buffeted still.
I looked down at my shoes,
Such a sorry affair,
The Raven so much to lose,
And there was no clear reason why,
The raven had been chosen to die,
But then that is social media…
