We headed out at 11am and stopped at the petrol station. This photo is probably the last time that I'll see the needle sitting over there for a while. On the way back home the queues at the petrol stations were ridiculous. I'm glad that I got that sorted early.
The storage unit is pretty darn jam packed. It was originally split over two units that I then amalgamated into one. There were some boxes that I needed to get to and of course they were right at the very back of the unit with everything else in front of them.
Picture this if you will. Me clambering over a couch turned on it's side, flinging plastic slide sets behind me while teetering precariously on box corners not knowing what I could potentially break, then swinging myself around a cabinet like freaking Tom Cruise would do in Mission Impossible having barely a secure hand hold and landing in the back corner on the stacked boxes that I needed to get out. Needless to say that I was feeling rather tired when we arrived home. I moved about 40 boxes around, opened them checking contents, pulling out what I needed and then trapesing them down a flight of stairs to the car. Getting the garden machinery out was the easy part as that was right at the front of the unit.
Did I mention that my car is a Mary Poppins car? It's just like her magic handbag. You can just keep shoving shit in there and it just keeps taking more lol. She also thinks she's still as zippy as lightning even at the age of 16, put foot and she purrs then growls like a fooking cheetah and you're away.
Ok I'm totally buttering her up now, but she's still got some spunk left in there even with 163000kms on her clock. Her body work looks shoddy and she's covered in rust spots and holes, but I still love how reliable she is.
The temperature guage on the clock no longer works - it said it was 49 degrees the other morning when it was probably closer to 15 and the rest of the time it just says F. I think it stands for F*cked but I'm no expert.
The entire trip took us 6 hrs and was pretty darn pleasant. I drove the speed limit to the T all the time and counted 11 speed traps and red light cameras along the route. We also counted how many bridges we went under and how many we went over, we sang sing-alongs and played eye spy and the rhyming game. We arrived home tired but in good spirits.
I don't drive if it's not necessary and seeing as the petrol price has doubled since this same time last year, I try to tie trips togethernand get them done in a burst rather than spacing them out across days on end. It saves time and fuel but can also be rather busy.
Yesterday on the off-chance of getting a candle order, I put an advert into one of the groups I'm a member of and was pleasantly surprised to get four orders. I arranged with them all to deliver today (I like adding value for my clients and this is an absolute bonus nowdays) so we were out of the house and zooming around again for a few hours.
I enjoy driving and saw some pretty places I've not been to before so it helps me to get more familiar with the area. The ladies that bought my candles were all very friendly. I've asked them to send me feedback, hopefully they'll tell their friends. 17 candles went out today and have found their new homes around bath tubs, in living areas or as gifts to loved ones. That makes me happy and I hope that they make their new owners happy too.
Considering that at midday yesterday I had my happy vibe taken straight out of me by something stupid, I decided to push that aside and turn it around with the help of some neighbours and solid community spirit.
LL and I were meant to have a mommy-daughter day but it unfortunately had to be postponed to get the deliveries out. As a consolation prize, she got an ice cream treat for her understanding and we'll make "clay-dough" and craft tomorrow instead.
Tonight I'm starting a new candle range and I won't lie, I'm super excited about it. While we were out, the supplies that I ordered for it arrived and my awesome neighbour Melanie signed for them. She's a keeper for sure. Wanted to know if it was anything nefarious because the courier practically wanted a DNA sample from her. We had a laugh together at that considering the package had pea seeds in it and rose petals. Now I get to unbox my goodies and see what beauties they will become.
Like a kid in a candy store, I can't wait. Watch this space, they'll be making an appearance soon.
