These engagement topics are so much fun for me, thanks galenkp@galenkp for suggesting them. This week I chose the question 'do we need alcohol to have fun' and the answer is very simple: no, we don't need alcohol to have fun. Thanks for passing by, bye!

Okay no, but seriously speaking, this is a rather silly taboo that I feel people use to justify consuming alcohol and cover up other things, like wanting to drain feelings and not knowing how to do it or even alcoholism. For me having fun is given by other circumstances like who you are with and where you are, for example and I'm going to talk about my personal experience if I go with a friend or with my group of friends, even if we are doing a paperwork in some government office we probably have fun with each other's occurrences and the same thing happens with places, if you go to a place you don't want to go even if you are wasted you are not going to enjoy it.

On the other hand, let's imagine that if you need to drink alcohol, people who don't drink alcohol because of medical or religious conditions or who simply chose the path of sobriety wouldn't be able to have fun? It feels a little unfair doesn't it?

I think the only experience where you need a little bit of alcohol to get uninhibited is when you get on a party bus, recently for a friend's birthday we rented one and got on stone cold sober and it was pretty weird at first, because on this bus people outside can see you. But in general no, alcohol consumption is not and should not be related to having fun.

Thanks for making it this far, bye!
