I took a shortcut towards my home today.
On the way, I saw a small girl trying to pull a heavy bucket filled with water.
I went to her and offered help.
She pointed the direction to her home, which was on my way.
She was carrying a huge school bag too.
As soon as I picked the bucket, all the people there, started giving me strange looks.
I ignored their stares and headed towards her home.
While walking, I asked her, “Why were you pulling this bucket alone?”
She said, “Because, I am a strong girl”.
I laughed.
I asked her, “I see! Tell me where is your mumma?”
She answered, “Police station”.
I felt a sudden warmth in my body.
I asked her, “Why? Did you fight with someone?”
She smiled.
She said, “My father killed everyone. So they killed my father. Mumma told that she has to sell me before they kill her. Now you see, I have so many responsibilities. I don't have time to fight with other kids!”
I felt numbed.
I dropped her with her bucket to her home.
She said, “Thank you!”
I didn't answer anything. I headed towards my home in a faster pace now. I never looked back at that shortcut again.
May be, I was one of those strange staring faces now.
I wondered,
TERRORISM HAS SURELY KILLED INNOCENCE!
