Saludos mi gente de @fulldeportes. Se nos viene la liga venezolana de beisbol profesional venezolano y es sumamente imposible para mi no hablar de mi nave turca. La temporada pasada toda Venezuela fue testigo de un equipo que demostró valor y amor por su uniforme saliendo de las condiciones más horribles en todas las fases en la temporada. Así que ya estoy ansioso por ver a la nave recoger las anclas y zarpar contra viento y marea de la mano del mejor capitán que ha podido tener. Hablar del Magallanes antes de esta nueva temporada es hablar de un equipo que hace pocos meses parecía estar muy lejos del título.

La Nave arrancó la 2025-26 con muchas dudas y llegó a estar en el sótano con récord de 8-15, incluso pasó buena parte de la ronda eliminatoria en posiciones comprometidas. Pero la historia cambió con la llegada de Yadier Molina este capitán que llego el 14 de noviembre. Desde entonces, el equipo encontró otra cara, incluso lo digo con sinceridad, pensé que Magallanes no saldría de allí, ganó 20 de los 32 juegos bajo su dirección y terminó clasificando tercero con marca de 29-27.

The Venezuelan Professional Baseball League season is fast approaching, and it is simply impossible for me not to talk about my "Turkish Ship" (la Nave Turca). Last season, all of Venezuela witnessed a team that showed courage and love for its uniform, overcoming the most terrible conditions at every stage of the season. I am already eager to see the Ship weigh anchor and set sail—against all odds—under the guidance of the best captain it could possibly have. To speak of Magallanes before this new season is to speak of a team that, just a few months ago, seemed very far from contending for the title.

The Ship kicked off the 2025-26 season facing many doubts; it even found itself in the cellar with an 8-15 record and spent a good portion of the regular season in a precarious position. But the story changed with the arrival of Yadier Molina—the captain who stepped in on November 14th. From that moment on, the team took on a whole new identity. I’ll be honest: I didn't think Magallanes would dig itself out of that hole, yet they won 20 of the 32 games under his leadership and ultimately qualified in third place with a 29-27 record.

Y ahí está, para mí, una de las grandes historias del campeonato. Magallanes no ganó porque haya dominado de principio a fin, sino porque supo reaccionar cuando parecía que la temporada se le escapaba, cuando yo como fanático incluso estaba sin esperanza alguna de verlo llegar tan lejos. En el Round Robin tampoco comenzó bien, pero nuevamente consiguió levantarse y llegar a una final contra Caribes que terminó ganando 4-2. El sexto juego fue prácticamente una fiesta ofensiva: 14 carreras para sellar el campeonato y devolver a los turcos a lo más alto de la LVBP después de varios años de espera.

And therein lies, for me, one of the championship's great stories. Magallanes didn't win because they dominated from start to finish, but because they knew how to react when the season seemed to be slipping away—when I, as a fan, had completely lost hope of seeing them make it this far. They didn't start the Round Robin well either, but once again managed to bounce back and reach the final against Caribes, ultimately winning the series 4–2. The sixth game was essentially an offensive showcase: 14 runs to clinch the championship and return the Turcos to the top of the LVBP after a wait of several years.

En lo individual también hubo nombres que sostuvieron esa remontada. Rougned Odor fue uno de los principales motores ofensivos con 12 jonrones, 45 carreras impulsadas y .275 de average; Tucupita Marcano bateó .317 con 51 hits, 29 impulsadas y un sólido .912 de OPS; mientras que Carlos Rodríguez dejó .329 de promedio, 52 hits y .848 de OPS. Ahora bien, repetir una historia así será otra cosa. Magallanes llega a esta temporada con el peso de ser el campeón, pero también con la obligación de demostrar que aquello no fue solamente una remontada espectacular, esta vez tendremos al capitán Molona desde el inicio, creo que ya solo eso hace temblar los banquillos del resto de los equipos.

La gran incógnita será cómo responde la Nave después de una campaña donde Molina demostró que podía cambiarle la cara al equipo y donde varios jugadores aparecieron en momentos importantes. El título ya está en la vitrina; ahora comienza otra historia y, como siempre en la LVBP, lo hecho la temporada pasada no garantiza absolutamente nada, pero igual espero ver un Magallanes repotenciado esta temporada ¡Viva mi Magallanes!

The big question is how the "Nave" will respond after a campaign in which Molina proved he could transform the team and various players stepped up in crucial moments.
