What Would I Do If Nobody Could See Me For One Day?
When I saw this IndiaUnited contest theme, I laughed at first. Invisible for one day? That is like Nollywood movie. But as I sat down, many ideas started coming.
Honestly, if nobody can see me for 24 hours, the first thing I will do is travel for free. I will wake up very early, go to Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, walk straight inside plane that is going to London. No visa, no ticket, no immigration stress. Since I am invisible, nobody will stop me. I will sit in business class, eat their food, press my face to the window to see the clouds. That has always been my dream.
After London, I will come back to Nigeria same day. Then I will use my invisibility to correct some things.
I will go to my former secondary school where a wicked teacher used to punish us for no reason. I will enter his office and scatter his papers, hide his cane, shift his chair so when he sits he will fall. Just small prank to revenge what he did to us back then. Not harmful, just funny.
Later in the afternoon, I will go to my area where politicians share palliatives. I want to see where they hide the rice and beans they are supposed to share to poor people. Since I am invisible, I can enter their store, count everything, take pictures in my mind, and later expose them. I know I will see many things that will shock me.
In the evening, I will become kind. I will go to the children's hospital in my state. Many children there don't have anybody to play with them. I will carry toys I bought before, drop them beside their beds gently. They will think it is miracle or angel. I will also enter market and help that old woman who sells akara, help her fry and arrange her things without her seeing me.
Before my power finishes by midnight, I will go to my own house and watch how people talk about me when I am not there. I want to know who truly loves me and who is pretending.... Invisibility will show me true friends.
One day invisible will be fun and also eye-opener for me.
