DO NOT HURT YOURSELF WITH YOUR THOUGHT

long time...
Two monks were walking through the field at sunset; while walking, praying and reflecting.
A little before approaching a river that they had to cross, which had no bridge to do so, they were approached by a woman of small stature, asking them to help her cross the river. One of them immediately said yes, while the other I saw him with a disapproving look. The one who aimed to help the little woman raised her on his shoulders and when the river finished it was lowered from her shoulders, the woman was very grateful to that monk.
The monks went on their way and the one who did not approve the decision began to complain to the monk who helped the woman to cross the river about her behavior: "Why did you put that woman on your shoulders? Do not you know that in the Convent, are we forbidden to maintain contact with women? "
The monk who had helped the woman did not answer the other monk's questions.
They followed their path and the monk insisted on his questions, to which the other monk did not respond.
Shortly before reaching the convent, the monk again questioned him about what he had done and finally the monk replied:
"It's been more than four hours that this woman is no longer near my head, but still in yours. What do you gain by hurting yourself by having things of the past in your mind? What do you gain by having things in your mind that Do you get affected? "
