Last night, I watched an epic documentary. It’s all about Silk Road, the original mainstream black market website of the dark web.
The documentary also had some really insightful information on Ross Ulbricht, the site’s creator.
Ross was a very mysterious dude but this documentary does a great job of showing who he truly was: a revolutionary programmer who wanted to take the violence and negativity out of the (inevitable) item-purchasing process. Obviously, most of the items available were “illegal” drugs or otherwise unobtainable items, but the beauty of it was that it was a free exchange, truly peer-to-peer.
However, it is very important to draw the line between Silk Road, and other related sites, and cryptocurrency!!!
It annoys me to no end when I am telling somebody about Steemit, I mention the word cryptocurrency, and they go ”But is that legal??” and even after I’ve assured them that it is indeed legal, the most-brainwashed still don’t believe me.
Now with that being said, most of the people who are afraid of crypto in this day and age are the very people who... uh... patronized the Silk Road Site. However, it’s ridiculous to avoid crypto because of that, and it’s almost like avoidomg FIAT MONEY, because there are trillions of dollars, pounds, euros, etc being used for illegal drugs. The notion just makes no sense, and in the end, it all boils down to fear, and we as educated cryptonauts need to pave the way with information for those who aren’t so fortunate yet!
