Let’s continue our yesterday’s discussions on the gates of our lives. We saw the devastating effect it had on Lot’s life and that of his daughters. Today, I want us to see the blessing of keeping your ear gates as we examine the life of Job.
Job was the richest man in the world of his day; he had so much wealth that the world of his day felt it when he lost it all at a time. He was the Bill Gates of his day. What was amazing was that Job was not just financially loaded. He was spiritually loaded as well.
There are many secrets responsible for his wealth and favour; such as blessing the poor, helping the old, fighting for justice for the afflicted, deep understanding of God’s word, absolute dedication to the service of God, but there was more.
Job had decided against all forms of immorality to a very advanced level. He was not just going to stay away from women, he was not just going to abstain from lust but he made a covenant with his eyes never to look at anyone lustfully.
Covenanting in with your eyes is like saying “the day I look at a woman lustfully, may go blind”. Now, that is mounting guard on your eye gates.
Job did not only become great and the greatest man of his day till his death. One of his greatest secret was the ability to mount guard on his eye gates.
