“And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake” (Genesis 30:27 KJV)

Favour is a commodity that enters into a person’s life through various channels, and by one powerful channel is by association. Solomon had told us in proverbs 13:20 that walking with the wise would make you wise, and that a companion of fools will be destroyed. This directly implies that he that walks in the favoured will be favoured as well. This truth is all over scripture, and one of the first ones was recorded in our text.

Jacob was a very blessed man, whom God blessed from the womb by calling him a nation and stating that he would rule over his brother and that his brother would serve him. God said Jacob have I loved and Esau have hated. This was favour right from the womb. Besides all these, Jacob’s father – Isaac, put a very heavy blessing on him as well; sealing everything. Jacob became a recipient of a blessing called favour. But what he didn’t know was that the blessing was contagious.

Jacob found that out while in Laban’s house. Laban’s struggling business began to pick up, and his herds increased tremendously after Jacob was employed. What was more interesting was that Laban acknowledged it, and begged Jacob to stay. In his words, “if I have found favour in your eyes, stay with me...”. Jacob was so blessed that it robed off on Laban, just like that. When you have the opportunity to relate with or associate with favoured and blessed people, value it, treasure it, respect it and pray for them, possibly serve them if you can. Then what is upon them will come upon you in Jesus Name.
