Thomas Laxton Peas

KIMG1884.JPG
Today my dad came over and gave me some seeds he had been saving since 1971. They are a variety known as Thomas Laxton Peas. Thomas worked with Charles Darwin in the late 1800's and was a horticulturist who made hybrid plants. Some of these include plums and apples that are still available today. Another bit of info I found, his son died in 1942 by a direct hit of a German missile to his house.

These vines will grow to be about 4 feet tall if they grow at all. I have no idea how these seeds were stored. I am thinking about planting these next to my fence that keeps my dogs from going in my garden. However it is still a little muddy out there right now. I will plant a few indoors to see if they germinate though. I have a few extra spots in my one flat from a few days ago.

These seeds look very old, and lost all their green. I wonder if they will grow?
