When I was in the army, in the navy, we had a course for 3 months. It was a very demanding course and we had to maintain high disapline. We were pressured to be fast and always meet short deadlines.
There was one dude in our tent who always lost things. We used to laugh at him that every morning he would shout: "Did someone see my rifle? I lost my rifle". No one was really looking for his things, and every morning after a few minutes he would shout: "Its ok! I found it! You can stop looking for it!".
I sometimes started to think he was cinical because it was obvious no one cared. We only cared to do our own shit on time.
Today, 20 years after, while walking my dog, I suddenly thought, how nice would it feel if even just once, I was the one to tell him, "I found it, its ok, you can stop looking".
