Like roast chicken

One observes and remains silent, but today one feels the need to speak out. On those days when the sun burns mercilessly, I see many seeking a tan as if it were a trophy, a well-spent proof of summer. But what is behind this urgent desire to change the natural colour of our skin? Is it beauty, fashion, or the echo of a stereotype that tells us that light should be dark, and dark even darker?

Sun, yes, it is life. A little light every day strengthens the soul and gives vitamin D to the body, of that I am quite sure. But that temptation to spend hours under its rays, smeared with oils, or worse, locked in booths where artificial lights, promise a perfect tone. At the cost of what? I know: the skin keeps everything, every burn, every carelessness, written with anticipated wrinkles, spots and risks that nobody mentions because, they don't know it is a consequence of excesses.

Maybe it's not about the sun, but about what we project onto it. The tan as a sign of health, of holidays, of youth. But what if true health begins with accepting our skin, whatever its tone? What if giving up the pursuit of something imposed frees us a little? Perhaps the best colour is the one that respects the limits of the body, without rushing, without machines, without the desire to look different.
