Somos verbo, nunca sustantivo.

Sometimes I sit on the sofa and close my eyes, desperately searching for what we call ‘peace’. In those moments of silence, my mind tries to convince me that I am still, that the world has stopped along with me. But today, inspired by the @talentos community’s latest invitation to reflect on movement, I realise that absolute stillness is, in reality, a beautiful lie.
If I could observe my own hand through a powerful microscope at this very moment of ‘rest’, I would see a choreographed chaos. My cells do not take holidays; they are tiny factories in a constant frenzy of mitosis, energy transport and electrical signals. My blood is a mighty river that knows no dams, and my heart, that tireless metronome, dictates a rhythm to which the rest of my organs dance without complaint. We are, literally, a biological tide that never ebbs.

But the movement doesn’t stop beneath my skin. As I write these lines and you read them, we are both travelling on a giant rock spinning on its own axis at some 1,600 kilometres per hour. We don’t feel it, just as we don’t feel that this same rock orbits the Sun, nor that our entire solar system is hurtling through the galaxy at a speed that makes one dizzy just to think about it.
Why, then, do we sometimes punish ourselves by feeling that we are ‘stuck’?
I’ve noticed that at EmpowerTalento, the theme of movement is a recurring one, and it makes sense. Talent isn’t a statue in a museum; it’s a flow. Sometimes we think that if we aren’t producing, running or moving to a new city, we aren’t moving. However, science and life tell us otherwise: to exist is to move.

It is in the deepest pause that we are evolving. Movement is our natural state. We carry it in our DNA and in the path of the stars. So, the next time you feel that life has come to a standstill, place your hand on your chest or look up at the night sky. You will remember that you are part of an infinite dance, that you are pure dynamism and that, as long as there is life, movement—visible or invisible—never stops.
We are a verb, never a noun.
