From Roar to Silence

The Inner Volcano.

A dull volcano roars in my gut,
and in its hidden crater, tears burn,
the pressure of a grief that drives me to its limits
cracks the most intimate mountains.

alt
Volcano

The skin, a fragile crust that cracks,
reveals the living magma that stirs,
an ancestral fever that resurrects,
and the calm of a statue does not calm it.
Until the dam of silence gives way
and in a red procession, the lava advances,
sweeping away the fragile hope
with a fire that concedes to everything.

There is no more mask, no mask left;
only the naked pain in the smoke.

The Snow of Tranquility

The roar ceased; the wounded mountain
no longer vomits its infernal matter,
only a vastness, icy and serious,
a stillness of muted stone.

alt
Calm

A fine rain fell, a slow oblivion,
a balm of peace upon the slag
that erased the indelible, atrocious memory
of the fire that nestled in the moan.
Perhaps the right dose of sedative,
or the cold kiss of an unholy death,
or the simple mercy of a new day
gave me this instant relief.

The lava is a scar, a sleeping earth.
The soul no longer burns. It is only… absent.

Ya no hay máscara, máscara no queda;
solo el dolor desnudo en la humareda.

La Nieve del Sosiego

Cesó el rugido; la montaña herida
ya no vomita su infernal materia,
solo una vastedad, helada y seria,
una quietud de piedra enmudecida.

alt
Calma
