"Will tomorrow ever come?" I sat quietly in front of my balcony with my hand placed on my head, lost in thought, as I hoped for things to get better.
Last week, I tried to get a better job and I submitted my curriculum vitae to a couple of firms around but I wasn't called for the job, the economy isn't even smiling with the hike in price for almost everything, it constantly reminded me to get something doing Asap before I die of hunger and strive.
"Oh gosh, when will things be? Mama told me that tomorrow isn't promised but since there's life, there's hope but will tomorrow ever come?" I soliloquized yet again when a call from my kid brother Mike jolted me back to reality.
"Hello Mike, what's up?", I could hear the background very noisy and it began to mess with my head, I immediately hung up so as not to transfer the frustration to the poor boy.
"Mike, what's up, just leave a message for me on WhatsApp, I'll check it as soon as I can," I managed to text him.
A few moments later I received a beep on my phone and without a guess I knew it was from Mike.
"I just hope he wasn't about to bill me like Kid siblings do," I whispered beneath my breath and hesitated to open the message, but then for the love of him, I opened, lo and behold, my intuition was right.
"Brother David, please I need a favour from you, kindly call me in the next twenty minutes." I held my phone for a couple of minutes wondering what the favour could be if it turned out to be monetary, I'm sorry I would have to turn him down this time because I needed all the help I could get.
"Do I call this boy or do I just ignore him?" It was a subtle battle between my emotions and my intuition.
I stared at the clock it was exactly twenty minutes later, with a deep breath, I picked up my phone, dialled his number and waited for him to take his call.
"Hey bro David, thanks for calling, I want you to do me a favour," he paused for a second before he could continue I interrupted.
"Mike, I don't have money to give you, if your favour is to bill me, your ball has just hit the bar today," I replied immediately, with a chuckle he responded, "Big bro, today is different, I am not asking for money, just compliance that's all".
"Compliance as to what regards?" I inquired.
"Okay big bro, please take your CV to this address I'll text you, tell the receptionist you are from Mr Fred, Mr Fred is my friend whom I reunited with yesterday at a conference and I told him about your predicament, and he promised to give you a job in his firm if you could pass the interview, he is the C.E.O of the company, just do as I tell you okay? I wish you the best." a few seconds later, he hung up and sent me the address to the company.
I was awestruck for a moment that my kid brother could be the light in my darkened world, with a very wide smile, I jumped up, even though I hadn't gotten the job yet, I could see a better tomorrow right ahead of me.
I rushed into the room to figure out what I'd wear to the company first thing tomorrow morning, "my tomorrow has finally arrived", I excitedly affirmed myself as I knew against all odds, the job was gonna be mine if I could pass the interview and of course, I've got all it takes, I know my onions.
The next day arrived, I said my prayer and left for the interview. A few hours later, I received an email that I was recruited for the post of manager in Mr.Fred's company, the KKK, a well reputable company, I couldn't help but shed a few tears of joy, to know that tomorrow I asked after is finally here, thank God I didn't ignore Mike's call, truly so long as there is life, anything can still happen.
