I wouldn't say I am an introvert, neither am I an extrovert, I am just in between, okay I found the word for that, Ambivert.
Alas! I have been blessed to have wonderful people around me even though my circle is very small and I always associate them to something, after all, something endears us to people isn't it?
The prompt today deem it fit I talk about a very special friend, in whom I am well pleased. Dinma is her name. I and Dinma were classmates right from high school but coffee made us besties.
It all started one day, I had to travel to another state for an external exam relating to gaining admission into my chosen university, but got stranded in a state where Dinma schooled for her higher institutions, prior to that time, we only exchanged pleasantries on social media , but I recalled she told me about schooling in that particular state.
As it kept getting dark, I reached out to her on one of her social media account and I informed her about my ordeal, to my greatest surprise, she told me not to worry that she would come get me to her hostel where I could spend the night and continue my journey the next morning.
Dinma kept to her words, she did came pick me up and as soon as I got to her hostel a fine sweet aroma welcomed me, turned out that she just had a cup of coffee that evening.
"Do you care for a cup of coffee?" She asked with all smiles, and it just melted my heart, to see her being so hospitable, even though at that time I hadn't started taking coffee, I prefered other beverages like Milo, ovaltine to coffee but I just couldn't turn down the offer.
"It will make her feel so bad if I reject this," I soliloquized. After much thought, I accepted the offer with a smile as well. She excitedly turn on the gas cooker to boil me some water for my coffee and then she brought out some cookies in her locker.
"Have this with it," She handed me the cookies, I sat down ready to munch, when we began talking about our other classmates and how time had quickly passed by.
That evening was a blissful one, it was my first cup of coffee with so much laughter and memories, more to that, the cup of coffee was a symbol of hospitality, how can I quickly forget Dinma without talking about my first cup of coffee?
Turned out that, I enjoyed the coffee so much. Initially, I anticipated it to be a bit bitter, but it was creamy and the aroma brought warmth in the room.
Although I and Dinma rarely see as we both stay very far from each other but that one act of hospitality, endeared me so much to her. Gradually we became so close, as she never stopped calling asking after my wellbeing since then, and of course I reciprocated.
Whenever she came to the state where I reside, I ensure we visit a coffee shop together as our own fun way of relaxation and catching up and I got to fond of that.
She has been the reason behind me trying different coffee brewing methods, as she's a true fan of adventure and good cups of coffee, today I am also a lover of coffee and whenever I talked about my first cup of coffee, I did mention Dinma, her kind heart, her aura, tasty first cup of coffee she made me and the memories we shared that particular day .
