Few months ago, i went to the attic and i found quiet a handful of item that i have not used for the past one year.

or more.

Among them are some baby items like walker, carrier, stroller, car seat and judging by my last baby's age, these items have not been used for four good years reason why i moved them into the attic.

WHAT IS DECLUTTERING?

Decluttering is the process of removing unwanted items. These items are what you no longer need anymore and instead of allowing them to take up space, you find them and remove them to create enough space for new things coming in or for just to have an ample space in the room.

You might want to go through your wardrobe and look through, it would surprise you that there are clothes in there that you have not worn for the past 12 to 24 months. These clothes are seriously begging for you to declutter them so that they can be useful in another person's life.

WHAT THEN DO YOU DO WITH YOUR DECLUTTERED ITEMS?

For the baby things i got from my attic, the last thing that was on my mind was to sell them. Immediately i made up my mind to declutter them, i have already chosen two couples in my local church community that were in dare need of baby things. They were nursing mothers and cannot afford to buy these items so i gladly gifted the baby stuffs to them and they were very happy.

YOU CAN MAKE AN EXTRA DOLLAR THROUGH DECLUTTERING.

There are some people that do not know that they can make extra money for themselves by decluttering what they no longer need. A friend of mine relocated to the United Kingdom and before she travelled, she put up everything in her house for decluttering on her whatapp status. Ac, cooker, plasma tv, dinning table, bed, curtains, cushions etc. She sold all within two weeks at a very favourable price. She knows she no longer needs them and so she sold them out to make more money for herself instead of dashing them out or maybe dumping them in the attic of their house in the village.

There is also this woman that i knows that love fashion. She can spend her last money shopping for more and more clothes. What she does is to declutter her closet every three months and sell the clothes, shoes and handbags she no longer want and by that she makes more money for herself instead of leaving all those many clothes in her closet or dashing them to friends. Infact some of the friends that always want her to gift out these fashion wears to them are now buying them from her at a price lower than the cost price.

It's a win - win situation for all of them.

SELLING DECLUTTERS PETTY OR WISE FINANCIAL DECISION

Honestly i used to think that it was a petty kind of thing thus the reason selling my baby things never crossed my mind. I thought that if you have something and don't need it anymore the best thing is to give it out to charity or people that needs it more.

I am not saying that giving to charity is bad but...

Not to attach sentiments to financial decisions. If selling your declutters will make you attain some level of financial freedom you desire at that moment especially when you are in deep financial crisis or looking for another way to make money then by all means sell to make yourself some extra dollars. There will always be another opportunity to give to back to charity and humanity.
