I had always told myself that i will never date any boy in my neibourhood. Not because they don't have the physical attribute that i desire in a man but barely because they were boys.
You know boys will always be boys.
They kiss and tell.

So i tried so much to avoid them and that include not being friends with any of them. To be seen around any of them would be mistaken as if both of us were dating and so they would believe any unscrupulous lie that the person will say concerning me.
I don't want dem boys to stain my white.
The day i managed to talk to one of the boys for just a second,it was just an innocent talk but he told his friends that he asked me out and i agreed to think about it.
What the heck!
This was someone that i have never spoken to since his family moved into the neighborhood five years ago and ofcourse his friends believed him. My childhood friend Brendan disclosed this to me and i felt like strangling the liar. It furthermore gave me the motivation to stay far far away from dem boys.
I was fifteen years old.
My hatred for the boys was so much that i felt my heart betrayed me when i started crushing on one of them. They always gather together in their usual spot to talk about girls and football. I found myself peeping through my window just to watch him. I started making excuses for him why he was with such horrible boys.
He was tall and dark in complexion.
His broad shoulders made him look arrogant and his eyes were so dark and sharp that it pierced right into my soul.
His dressed like he knew that i was watching him and my eyes fed on him so passionately.
Chisom was his name and i have often chuckled on why his mum gave him a feminine name. But that's by the way it doesn't take away the huge crush i had on him. Even though i thought my heart betrayed me, my brain was far more smarter. It gave my heart one hundred and fifty reasons not to ever approach him or give him the green light.
It will end in premium tears by the time you will wake up with the news of your first kiss flying all over the neighborhood.
But can he really do that? He looked so so different and so handsome.
He is still from the neighborhood you know. my brain warned my crazy heart.
Six months later, there came a new boy in the neighborhood. He was the opposite of my crush ; fair in complexion, dressed way better than my crush and the best of all, he never identified with dem boys in the neighborhood. I admired him but there was more.
I felt guilty for wanting to know more about this new guy. It was as if i have betrayed my first crush.
It's funny thinking about it now. That i never dated my first crush. He probably didn't even know that i had a serious crush on him. I guess that's the way i want it afterall because the new boy in the neighborhood CAME FOR ME.
