Hello, people! Welcome to my garden, eh!
Green bean picking season is definitely here now, I picked a decent batch last week, and I had to pick them again today. I probably should have picked them a couple of days ago, some of the yellow beans got really big. The yellow beans are doing really well in the raised bed, and the green beans are doing ok in the big pots. It's harder to keep them well watered, the dirt doesn't hold the moisture as well as I would like. Still, they're producing a decent amount of beans.
Here's the yellow bean plants before I started picking.
This is the whole bean patch and container garden. Those yellow things on the plant toward the greenhouse are cherry tomatoes. I tend to just pick and eat them as I pass by the plant.
I got a really good haul from this picking!
I discovered whiteflies in the greenhouse last weekend, so I had to take some steps to slow them down. They were mostly on the tomato plants closest to the door, so I trimmed off all the lower leaves and put out the rest of my yellow sticky traps. I also sprayed neem oil in the evening when I found them.
I'm going to have to start checking the plants every day now, to try and keep the whiteflies from taking over the tomato plants like they did last year.
Here's a few pictures from around the big garden.
This is my zucchini and yellow squash patch, from outside the fence. All the rain that we've had has been encouraging the powder mildew growth, I'm going to have to try to slow that down. So far, it's not affecting them very much.
This is my raised bed tomato plants, with the popcorn behind it.
I have 4 blueberry bushes that I planted last year. They're all doing well, and one of them decided to bloom and put on a few blueberries this year. I didn't really expect any of them to bloom this year, so it's a bit of a bonus for me.
That's all I have for this post, thanks for stopping by to check it out!
