My birthday was on Wednesday and I ended up having a very nice day. I had breakfast with my friend @jessiestarr followed up by a pedicure, lunch and some makeup shopping at MAC Cosmetics with my Mama and Deda(Grandma).
In the later part of the afternoon @alexbeyman picked me up and gave me a wonderful gift of an illuminated glass jellyfish, something we had both seen and liked a few weeks before at one of my favorite stores in NW Portland. Alex then accompanied me to The Pencil Test, a bra store in the Alberta Arts district with European sizing for busty women.
As the evening drew on he and I took in a movie, "A Quiet Place," one of the new horror/thrillers that is out right now and we both quite enjoyed it although the movie lives up to its name and is indeed very quiet, something that, it turns out, we are not. We talked and giggled through parts of it, cracking jokes and undoubtedly annoying some of the people around us. We had a great time though and winded the evening down with some fancy mexican food at a "From Dusk Til Dawn" style restaurant called The Matador. We held hands across the table from each other and dreamt up a Tesla Punk style future for ourselves.
When I got home, my housemate/bandmate Steve had a birthday card, a sugary treat and a really cool gift waiting for me. He had ordered a little music box where you can custom make your own songs to play through it. He rewrote the Happy Birthday song for me in to a minor key (Ab minor) and used Baroque style harmonies with it. I think it is pretty cool.
All in all, I ended up feeling very spoiled and loved and the day ended up being quite special. I am truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family and to live in a place where I have so many cool things to do and the time and opportunity to do them. My heart is filled with gratitude. Thank you.
