Hey! I just wanted to share a productivity tool that has worked for me in the past year in hopes that some of you might find useful. It's called Habitica, it's a habits/to-dos tracker which is gamified and it is FREE to use. There is a paid version with additional perks, but it is completely functional in the free version. Here's a picture of the main page which contains your tasks and habits.
General Introduction
The main feature of this site is the ability to join a party and complete quests. Everyone starts at level 1, you gain exp, gold and items by completing tasks, checking a daily or habit off. At level 10, you can choose between 4 classes - Warrior, Mage, Healer or Rogue - they each have different abilities (as shown at bottom of the screenshot) to suit different types of people. (example, warriors deal massive damage, rougues have increased drop rates)
Parties & Quests
Most quests are aimed at defeating a boss (eg. 1000 HP). You accumulate damage throughout the day when you tick your positive habits, dailies or to-dos. If you miss a daily or tick a negative habit, you will accumulate damage that will be done to each of your party member. The damage is dealt (to both your party and your team) the first time you log in on a new day. If anybody's HP reaches 0, they will lose a level. You can heal up with the help of potions, healers (can be from your party), or by leveling up.
Rewards & Drops
The bosses usually give "drops" and EXP as per any RPG. You can also equip your character with weapons and armour to pad your character stats (eg. Hat adds 10 Str, Str increases damage dealt to bossses). The equipment also contribute to the aesthetics of your character.
Other drops also include eggs and hatching potions. When you select a hatching potion and match it to an egg, you will get a pet. (eg. desert potion + wolf egg = desert wolf) The pet will be placed in your stable. If you feed your pet enough, they will transform into a mount which your character can "ride".
Interest Groups
There are also guilds that you can join on top of your party. There are a whole variety of guilds started by members, for different purposes.
Some guilds are created for individuals in a certain geographic location, interest groups (eg. anime lovers, photographers, gamers), learners or habit builders (eg. exercise, singing, language learning). There are also some guilds that tackle challenges that you might face (eg. chronic illness guild, parents gulid).
There's a whole range of different guilds, you should definitely check it out if you decide to be a part of the community. :)
Conclusion
This app has helped me tremendously as I work from home. I have tried many other apps but had a tendency to switch as it got too "boring". Having real people to account to really helped me commit to completing my tasks and forming my habits. I hope this will help some of you get your life on track. :)
Let me know if you have any questions, will be happy to help if I can.
Have a great week guys! :D
