Hi! Co-hivers, it's Alycha again in your feed. Did you miss me? Because I missed y'all!! Also, I hope that you will still support me on this blog.
So on this blog of mine, I will be sharing how our fiesta went in the midst of the aftershocks that we can still feel to this day.
It was just a small celebration that our neighbour prepared for our Mother Mary. My family didn't plan anything because at 1 am on October 13, another strong earthquake occurred. Which is the day of our fiesta; that's why the plan that was already set didn't take place.
I was really sad since we really wanted to celebrate it, and I also wanted to invite my friends over, but the trauma of the aftershocks lingers—maybe next time, I guess??
But here we are, helping our neighbour prepare the foods that will be distributed later on, when the prosisyon and nobena end (October 12).
First, we cut the puso in the center (it was already cooked and warm).
The one with the brown shirt is my cousin, and the other girl is one of our neighbours that also came to help.
The second thing that we did was put the pancit onto a 5x9 plastic and tie it (it was still hot).
The lumpia was already in the plastic and neatly arranged inside the carton by my auntie.
We then started to pack all of it. We put the puso first and then the lumpia, and lastly the pancit that was freshly cooked. Fresh from the fire, lol.
And when done, I came home to change into my clothes because it was Sunday, so it was church day.
I was kind of late because we have some prosisyon.
I didn't have any photos when they gave the food since I was attending mass in our church (I was standing since the chairs are all occupied and the church doesn't have a lot of white chairs since we don't use the white chairs a lot. But because our church was ruined and we cannot go inside, we really need it).
And when I got home, the rosary was finished. They were already eating when I got there; our neighbour also gave some juices to the people that attended the prosisyon and rosary.
Our kind neighbour also gave us some food since I didn't get any because I wasn't there, lol.
And on the day of our fiesta (October 13), we also came to help our neighbour in preparing her handa since she already asked us to help her the other day. We just did the same thing and ate a little, lol.
And when evening came, our parokyas priest arrived—around 4 o'clock in the evening. It was really fun; we forgot that we are still facing aftershocks because of how hilarious Father was. Our jaw was hurting from too much laughter.
It was really a big help to us people, seeing Father in front of us, laughing — making us feel better warms my heart. Seeing my neighbours, mother, auntie and lola, who easily got scared of the shaking, having fun—laughing—just hits different.
I can't thank Father enough for how grateful I am to him. I know that he was also scared, but he still chose to stay with us and face this tragedy with us.
Time will come, this will stop—and everyone will be healed from the trauma that they feel right now. Soon, we will rise and shine again—in his grace. Bangon, North Cebu!!
And that's all for today, everyone and everything. This has been ALYCHA—thank you, and have a wonderful and great day ahead, everyone—toodles 💗✨.
