I thought I would share some notes from my brewing day, today I'm brewing an Imperial Stout! And, if all goes according to plan, it will be one of the easiest brewing days ever for me!
I started out with very basic brewing equipment and added more stuff like controllers and pumps as I got more experienced. After some years I felt like brewing was more about the apparatus than the recipe and I wanted to get back to recipe creation again. So I found an Indiegogo campaign for a completely automatic brewery, the Brewie B20. I had to wait for quite some time to get it and the first couple of SW releases was not very reliable but with the release of SW 2.0 Chocolate Stout things are looking better!
I made a wheat beer last week that went flawlessly, tasted it yesterday and it tastes nice and refreshing! All I had to do was to prepare the recipe, add the malt and the hops and press Brew! The B20 mashed, sparged, boiled, hopped and cooled the wort for me and when it was ready it pumped the wort into my fermentation tank. I added the yeast and let it sit for a week. The B20 even cleans itself with some help from me, some sponging is necessary to get it completely clean.
I hope that this day will be as easy, mashing is already completed and boiling is underway as I write this!
Now I'm back to where I want to be, concentrating on the recipe and the process, not the technology behind!
