Markt between lake, mountains and wineries

Montreux looks like a postcard landscape situated on the shore of Lake Geneva, today with a Marketfriday hosted by @dswingle. The old town is at the same time the starting point for wonderful hikes on the way, everywhere you can taste fine local wine. Did you know that Lake Geneva is the largest lake in the Alps and the second largest lake in Central Europe after Lake Balaton in Hungary?

Located on the border with France, Lake Geneva is called Lac Léman in French and is the largest lake in the country as well as in Switzerland.

Lake Geneva is really an amazing little piece of paradise, which has seduced numerous artists, writers and travelers looking for beauty and rest here. In 1952 Charlie Chaplin decided to settle here above Vevey with his wife and children, four of whom were born in Switzerland. He lived there happily until 1977.
