Only an hour's trip by car from Budapest lies a charming old village Hollókő , it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. It is the only Hungarian settlement with buildings and natural environment preserved untouched since the beginning of the 20th century.
Tourists from all over the world stream to this small village with 400 inhabitants, and only one street and wide garden in backyards.
The history of Hollókő dates back to the 13th century.
The houses are built on wood and straw, which unfortunately resulted in the village being devastated by fires several times over the years.
The old town of Hollókő burned down totally in 1909, but was rebuilt again precisely and exactly.
By nice weather can also get an insight into the life of people in Hungarian villages at the beginning of the 20th century. You can also find many kind of shop and workshop from that time.
The rooms inside the house are furnished in the original way, unfortunately they were not open at that time.
