Jobs, duties, deadlines, lists, goals and expectations. Every day is a new start, we press the “play” button and we try to manage random social requirements. Our personality is in front of different tasks and behind every task there is a different person. While we are growing up, it is an important achievement to cope with someone or something new every day. How easy can you adjust to different personalities, places or conditions? The easier you can do this the better is your mental health.
It is a long and continuous journey to manage every day’s adjustments and requires increased self- awareness. Let’s try something for this.
When you feel overloaded go to a window.
Open it.
Stay there for a while.
Take two or three deep breaths.
Start looking around.
Observe the view.
Every little detail is important.
Look to the buildings around, trees, flowers, nature and people.
Think about every color you see, take a look to shades, lights and shadows.
Hear every sound that you can recognize.
If you want make a quick sketch of whatever attracts your attention or write it down.
It is important to feel and observe what is around you.
This is a way to perceive the reality. Everyone, during the day, gets lost between thoughts and feelings. We have to come back to reality, to feel where we are and what we are doing.
Close the window.
Go back to your task.
Is there anything different?
