On 9/11, I learned from several ..let's just say "angry people" - to -never- ever mention the war. Even though I educated myself on Bush's plans to go to war, and what happened to prompt this... I was called -every- imaginable name under the sun.
I've also learned during my years on Social Media, you -must- and I repeat -must- not mention these topics.
Abortion. So many get up in arms about a woman's right to chose. Either you're called a "baby-killer" or any other name.
Deadbeat -anything- . Does not matter if it's a Deadbeat father/mother or any other parental figure.
Politics. MOST important. DO not and I repeat, do not even bother discussing politics online. Either someone will jump down your throat if you don't agree with them, or they call you a "ignorant Canadian"... even if the politics you're discussing is your own darn countries...
Photographs. No matter if it's taking memories for your own family - people always piss and whine about the amount of pictures you post. No matter if you explain that "well this is from a wedding" or "this is from a family member no longer alive.." someone almost always will make you feel like shit. Even though there IS an option to NOT click on the album or post of pictures... There are always ways not to see the pictures. But someone will almost always complain.
Anything to do with your past. Even if you know damn well what happened. Even if they were not there, they almost alllways will have something to say. Like they will try to say it didn't happen, when it did. Or they will call you a liar, and so on.
DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT discuss your employment, ex-employer, boss, supervisor ETC. Even if the supervisor is a total douche-canoe, don't do it.
Feelings. Even if it means something to you, don't do it. People tend to get offended if you discuss your feelings on social media.
Never use others' names. Unless they give you solid concrete permission. Just don't do it.
Beliefs. DO not discuss this. If you do, someone will almost always tell you that what you believe in, is wrong.
Finances. DO NEVER talk about this. Even once. Otherwise when you're financially stable, and you're saying how HAPPY you are with your new phone, someone will shit down your throat. "Well I thought you had no money"...even though said post was from a year ago. People on Facebook are like elephants, they never forget.
Also. DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT even -begin- to vent. Someone will almost always tell you that "you are not allowed to discuss this" or "we don't want to hear it.." Even if you filter people out, they STILL will bitch at you for something.
