Another day, another reason. That is how we roll over here at allcapsonezero incorporated ;) I jest, I jest, it is just little old me. So, let's get into it!
Reason # 56
Security
Ok, just for the record, there are a lot of phishing scams in crypto space. You don't want to give up your private keys. If you are giving them up to a trusted (make sure they are trusted) source, make sure they are who they say you are. That is how you lose your funds.
Let's say you fall victim to a phishing scam with any old crypto. It is safe to say, all of your money is gone.
Now, let's say you fall victim to a phishing scam on steem. It is safe to say that all of your liquid funds are gone. Your steempower cannot go anywhere, nor can your savings. 1/13th of your steempower will be able to be withdrawn 7 days after a power down was initiated and the savings won't be available for 3 days.
That being said, if you keep your liquid funds in savings, and power up a lot of your steem (it's good to do that anyway if you plan on staying a while), you have 3 days to fix the situation.
If you lose a credit card, you report that it is lost and soon the card is useless. No damage done. If you fall victim to a phishing attack and see that there is a power down started and savings are going to be liquid in 3 days... you have 3 days to file your report and stop your funds from being taken. 3 days is a long time to get this done.
If you were phished on any other crypto, you would lose everything with the snap of a finger. If you were phished on steem... you might not lose a thing. I would lose under 1 steem.
That is a nice feeling to know your coins are extra safe. Don't let that give you permission to be sloppy with your keys. Keep that tuff safe as you don't want to have a race with the clock to save your account. Be safe and know there are a lot of people that want your money. We are a bit safer here on steem.
There you have it! Another reason why Steem is the best!!!
