In the early days, all of my friends were all still drinking heavily and I would go to parties with them simply because I didn't want to be alone all the time. I needed resolve as everyone thinks that sobriety was just a phase and EVERYONE wants to be the guy to break me out of that phase... me being sober scared all of my friends, like I knew some secret about all of them (which I did) and they couldn't stand it. That said, I started to avoid those situations and find new friends that weren't into substance abuse as a hobby.
You find out who your true friends are and who are just your "partners in crime". My true friends started to look for things to include me in that weren't parties as I started to avoid parties after a while for obvious reasons... it is not fun watching everyone get messed up and being sober... and why tempt yourself? A lot of my "friends' just kept on without me.
