Some things are the kind that a person keeps hidden for years in a dark corner of their heart. They keep smiling in front of others keep living their daily life but inside them an ocean of emotions remains silently surging. Sometimes silence becomes far heavier than words.
An old man used to come and sit on a park bench every day. People would see him, greet him and walk past. One day a young man sat beside him and just asked, How are you doing these days? It was a simple question but perhaps after years someone had asked it with genuine sincerity. The old man's eyes welled up and he began telling the story of his life that he had never shared with anyone before.
Sometimes a person doesn’t need advice nor a decision. They just need an ear that will listen to them. When the burdens of the heart come out as words a person feels lighter. That’s why genuine conversation often becomes a quiet form of healing.
In life, every person is going through some battle. Some wounds show up on the body but some stay hidden inside the heart. When we share our emotions, fears or pain with someone trustworthy those wounds start to heal that we once thought were incurable.
So if you ever see someone around you being quiet just give them a chance to speak their mind. And if there’s also a burden you’ve been carrying in your own heart for years then maybe it’s time for you to “Spill Your Guts” too because sometimes healing isn’t in speaking it’s in letting the weight off your heart.
