Hello Steemians, What I am writing in this post is already known by most of you but in the business of everyday life we forget to tend to ourselves and our beloved ones, so I wrote this post as a reminder.
The belief that time heals all wounds is held by many who confuse healing with forgetfulness.
I have seen many adolescents with deteriorating psychological states as their parents quit helping them as they believe they are going to be fine by time.
Passage of time may help distracting us from the wounds and eventually forgetting about them, but it does nothing healing how they affect our personalities, emotions, subconscious mind and perception.
Leaving our wounds unattended allows them get more rooted and more difficult to heal afterwards.
Childhood abuse, domestic violence, a heart break, loosing a parent, old mistakes and many other experiences don’t only leave scars like physical wounds, rather leaving dysfunctional minds, hearts and souls. Their implications unconsciously affect us in such ways we may not be fully aware of and for prolonged time if not brought back to awareness and been properly attended to. The more the experience is difficult the more intense the associated emotion is. Strong emotions are more entitled to affect our subconscious minds.
Many people live with self-sabotaging thoughts, psychological complexes, phobias, obsessions, lack of self-confidence, unjustified fear, and a feeling of powerlessness all of which can be traced back to forgotten old experiences.
Addiction is one of the coping mechanisms that temporarily alleviate the agony of inner wounds that hadn’t been properly dealt with by the individual and his family. More pain is added because of guilt and shame society brings the addict to experience.
According to Eckhart Tolle, every negative emotion we experience leave remnants of associated energy in the body, these small amounts of negative energy accumulate to form what Tolle called Pain Body. The Pain Body is triggered to take over every time the individual experiences negative feelings. That magnifies the pain many folds causing people to overreact and falling into rabbit holes of pain
A deliberate soul search and learning about inner workings, bringing light of awareness to the dark aspects of your psyche and the courage to accept whatever you find regardless of how shameful it feels is of great importance to heal your old wounds.
Fortunately, today we have diverse knowledge to attend to healing process. There are thousands of publications in the arts of physiological, spiritual, sociological, and energy healing. At every country in the world there are healers, therapists, and psychiatrists.
