The Battle Ruleset

image.png

Armoured Up: All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat.
Going the Distance: Only Monsters with Ranged attack may be used in the battles .

This is a high mana ruleset game and only two color is available to play, which is the Fire and Dragon Splinters. The 57 mana cap is always making me to choose the Dragon Splinter, because they have the biggest annd strongest monsters in the game. On top of that the Going the Distance ruleset allows me to use Quix the Devious who is the perfect candidate for this kind of ruleset, where only ranged monsters are available to play. 馃槅

Yodin Zaku will be a much better choice, but he is way to expensive for me to rent on this level.

I have tried to play a lot to get this ruleset, but it was very difficult and I didn't receive this ruleset only once out of like 50-60 battles, so I had to choose this one. 馃槒

My Team Composition

image.png
Liek I said before Quix the Devious is the perfect summoner for this battle, because he gives a -1 ranged attack and speed de-buff against all the enemy monsters. There is a huge chance that my opponent will bring the same, but at least we will have even chance.
image.png
Runic Skyclaw is an amazing Dragon ranged monsters, who has an excellent speed and damage for a cost of 9 mana. His Snipe ability will makes her to target enemy Monsters with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that are not in the first position.
image.png
The Lava Launcher is my personal favorite monster from the Fire Splinter, because he has a lot of defense, good attackd damage and the Stun ability on higher levels.
image.png
The Fire Caller is one of the new reward monster, so she has the new Martyr ability, which will give +1 stats to the monsters next to her when she dies. She is quite slow to attack, but at least her damage is nice.
image.png
The Drybone Raider has an amazing ability, which is the Double Strike and that allows him to attack twice in every round. He also has melee attack as well hence his cost is over 10 mana.
image.png
The Ash Mirage gives a nice ranged debuff to all the enemy monsters with his Headwinds ability decreasing their ranged attack by one as long as he lives.
image.png
The Thinderlock is another great card cossting 10 mana, because he has the Last Stand ability, which makes him to increase his own stats if he will be the last monster left on my side of the battlefield. The Close Range ability will enable him to attack from the first position as well.

The Battle

My strategy was to debuff my opponent ranged atack monsters, but the main problem was that I have rented a different summoner to pursue my daily reward chests and I was forced to use Quix the Devious, because without him I wouldn't stand any chance at all. In this case my LEvel 1 summoner couldn't bring proper high levelled monsters, so this battle was quite difficult.

My opponent picked two monsters with the Swiftness ability in order to dodge my attacks and unfortunately that worked quite well. By the time of the third round I have lost my Skyclaw and my team only just scratched his armor.

Both of our team was heavily debuffed as a ranged attacks, but my Drybone Raider could easily change the tide of the battle if he wouldn't iss a lot as well like the rest of my team.

In the whole battle my team was not able to kill his Runic Skyclaw, which is a bit weird, but if my team would be on the same level like my opponent I think my Drybone Raider would annihilate his entire team. Sadly we couldn't see that, but I hope next time my team would have the chance to do that. 馃槈

Do you like Going the Distance? Why or why not?

Yes I like it, but only if there is more options to choose from not just from two Splinters. This reduces the options quite heavily and gives no room for strategic thinking. 馃構
