Cities look surprisingly ordinary after the rain. It’s as if someone just strips away all that postcard-perfect sheen with a single swipe — and what you see is no longer a collection of landmarks, but simply a city: a river, boats, a bridge, cars, and endless rows of buildings on the other bank.
Everything stops looking like a separate attraction and blends into one landscape: old rooftops next to apartment blocks, church spires between ordinary houses, tourist spots right in the middle of everyday life.
Nothing is trying to look better than it actually is. And — if you ask me — that’s pretty cool.
