The secrets of darkness

Hola comunidad, espero que estén teniendo un buen inicio de semana 😊 hoy quiero mostrarles mi ultimo dibujo, este me gustó muchísimo porque es algo un poco bizarro y fuera de lo común, son ideas que a veces llegan a la mente y no se pueden desaprovechar, al principio solo seria un retrato con la lengua en forma de tentáculo pero después pensé que seria genial agregar unas velas cerca de esta lengua, aunque estuve un poco dudosa de hacerlo ya que hace mas de un año que no pintaba velas, pero pude ayudarme guiándome por diferentes imágenes de referencia y entendiendo las sombras y luces que le darían el realismo que buscaba.

Hello community, I hope you are having a good start to the week 😊 today I want to show you my last drawing, I really liked this one because it is something a bit bizarre and unusual, i have ideas sometimes that come to mind and cannot be missed , at first it would only be a portrait with the tongue in the form of a tentacle but then I thought it would be great to add some candles near to her tongue, although I was a little hesitant to do it since I haven't painted candles for more than a year, but I was able to help myself guiding me through different reference images and understanding the shadows and lights that would give it the realism I was looking for.

Comencé con mi boceto de la chica, las velas las agregue un tiempo después, sin muchos detalles ya que al pintarlo es cuando empezaría la magia, para este dibujo elegí pintar con un efecto de óleo, así que use un pincel con esta textura y pinte sin mucho cuidado, quería que quedase bastante desordenado pero con forma, así que rellene con la paleta de colores por todo su rostro, elegí tonos cálidos para dar la sensación de oscuridad y luz de velas cerca de ella, poco a poco fui agregando detalles y mezclando un poco los colores pero sin difuminarlos por completo para dar ese efecto de pintura, para el fondo use un marrón oscuro mezclado con negro en las esquinas y en el centro un marrón mas claro.

I started with my sketch of the girl, I added the candles a while later, without many details since painting it is when the magic would start, for this drawing I chose to paint with an oil effect, so I used a brush with this texture and painted very rustic, I wanted it to be quite messy but with shape, so I filled in the color palette all over her face, I chose warm tones to give the feeling of darkness and candlelight near her, little by little I was adding details and mixing the colors a bit but not blurring them completely to give that painting effect, for the background I used a dark brown mixed with black in the corners and a lighter brown in the center.

Pinte su cabello usando un color negro agregando algunos destellos de luz con amarillo y blanco, con diferentes tonos rosas pinte la lengua, sin darle aun tanto detalle aun, realmente quería comenzar a pintar las velas y ver si me quedaban bien jajaja, rellene con un color base para comenzar a darle forma.

I painted her hair using a black color adding some flashes of light with yellow and white, with different shades of pink I painted the tongue, without giving it much detail yet, I really wanted to start painting the candles and see if i can do it hahaha, fill in with a base color to start shaping.

Después de dos horas tenia lista las velas, use diferentes tonos donde incluía gris, blanco, marrón, beige, color crema, quede enamorada de mis velas siento que se ven bastante reales, para la llama de la vela pinte con amarillo oscuro y claro, luego use un color blanco en el centro. Ahora que lo más difícil estaba listo, era momento de agregar detalles, sobre todo en su lengua donde aplique diferentes puntos de luz y algunas líneas blancas traslucidas para dar un efecto de algo baboso además de aplicar luz en la punta de la lengua/tentáculo donde se supone que le esta pegando la llama de la vela.

After two hours I had the candles ready, I used different shades where I included gray, white, brown, beige, cream, I fell in love with my candles I feel that it look quite real, for the flame of the candle I painted with dark and light yellow, then use a white color in the center.
Now that the most difficult part was ready, it was time to add details, especially in her tongue where I applied different points of light and some translucent white lines to give an effect of something slimy and also i start to apply light to the tip of the tongue/tentacle where the candle flame is supposed to be more close.
