An atypical weekend for us, on Saturday I went out with my son to do some shopping and as every child was running and jumping at one point he stumbled and put his right arm in, lost balance and his body fell on top of him causing a fracture in that moment my world came to a standstill it was a very bad feeling, he began to cry and shouted that he only wanted his mommy and he hugged me tight to see him like that, my soul tore apart and he just cried, I immediately took a taxi to the nearest children's hospital and we went to emergencies.
The results of the x-ray showed that he had a displaced fracture of the ulna and right radius, so they gave him an injection for pain and proceeded to put a cast to immobilize his arm, they also gave the order to hospitalize him and to send him on Sunday to another hospital where the children's orthopedist would see him and decide what treatment to give my son's fracture. It was a very hard Saturday for me to go through it without being able to do anything, just wondering why I let him run, why I let him go, there are so many things that it crosses our minds when there is nothing to do to change what happened.
A Saturday that no one should have to spend in a hospital but in life we all have different weekends and we must continue living and always hope for the best of each day, with my heart wrinkled but I never let go of his hand giving him my strength to my son so he wouldn't feel alone and sad.
He was very scared, his sad face said it all, I was drawing strength from where I no longer had it, but I was not going to falter, I was his pillar at that moment.
The orthopedist arrived and reviewed the x-rays, he said that surgery had to be done from the outside to accommodate the bone, he ordered him to do some tests. Upon hearing the surgery, he became more nervous and began to cry because he thought they would cut off his arm.
He fell asleep after an exhausting weekend, while he was sleeping the orthopedists met because they had decisions to make because some wanted to do surgery and others did not, they decided that it was not necessary since the fracture was not very serious to have to put him in operating room thank GOD, so they only decided to leave him with the cast since at his age of 7 he has the ability for the bone to stick and return to its place.
I gave him the news that he was not undergoing surgery and he was happy hehe good news within this atypical weekend, he even had the food they gave him at the hospital for lunch.
My Saturday bed...
On Sunday at 05:30 pm we were discharged, thank God our Sunday there was good news.
We finished our Sunday with my son at home and eating some delicious M&M candies, and thanking God for allowing us to have another weekend of life, although with a recoverable injury.
See you in another weekend experience friends.
