Only a few more days, and we will be at the first show of the fall selling season!
Since it is an outdoor event, now we are just praying for good weather... meaning a clear day with no wind. There are few things more frustrating than trying to set up a booth in rain and wind.
The morning of setup begins around 9:00am, and everything must be ready by 11:45; gates open at noon.
We were, however, a little surprised and perturbed to learn that there is a $20 entry fee for the general public. With the current state of the economy and all the uncertainty in the world we're worried that the fee will cause a lot of people to stay home.
Of course the fee is a fundraiser for something called "the gray muzzle project" which arranges homes for older dogs surrendered to local shelters... so it is a really good cause.
Even so, there was no mention of an entry fee in the original paperwork when we signed up.
Shutting down at the end is going to be a tight squeeze, mostly because the event ends at 7:00 which is almost when it gets dark. And they only give us an hour for takedown.
But... we just have to make the most of what we get, and hopefully it will be a successful event. You just never know, with first year gigs.
Regardless, we're determined to have a good time... a hopefully make a little money, too!
