In their desperation to paint Bitcoin in a negative light with their readers, they've decided 'Neo-Nazis Love Bitcoin' (and as everyone knows, we right-thinking people have to hate whatever nazis like). The article makes amusing reading, even if the journalist seems to not have much idea about his subject matter.

Then there's the out-and-out editorialising throughout the piece, here's a flavour,
"extremist groups around the world have capitalised massively on the exponential rise in the value of cryptocurrencies."
This statement is offered without a shred of evidence, it's simply an opinion....
because Bitcoin is bad.
Maybe they mean 'extremist groups' like Wikileaks who were forced to take donations in Btc after their access to the financial system was switched off by the US government in a failed attempt to cut off the flood of embarrassing leaks about their evil-doing around the world.
Some of the material in the piece comes from a report published by the Southern Poverty Law Centre, an advocacy group that did amazing courageous work back in the '80s suing the Klu Klux Klan and winning millions in damages! However in recent years they seem to have morphed into something different, they have begun publishing 'black lists' of their political enemies and they seem to have become supporter of a type of Marxist pro-islamic identity politics. They now defend the actions of violent extremists, instead of fighting against them. Again, we see a group that seeks power and to put people into groups. Free-thinking autonomous individuals with uncensorable money are a threat to this.
Anyone who reads The Guardian will see this type of Marxist worldview is increasingly prevalent. Day after day we see pieces about identity politics, the patriarchy, and creating 'victim groups' that need special treatment. So their ongoing negative propaganda against Bitcoin is par-for-the-course. There's a strong authoritarian strain to their politics - they believe in centralisation and a 'fair distribution of wealth'... both things anathema to the typical bitcoiner!
In my naiive youth, I thought proper grown-up papers 'reported the news', gave us the truth, explained the world to us. Instead I see that all of them just push their ideologies day after day. No wonder the legacy media is dying!
Another thing which I find odd is The Guardian's fixation on Bitcoin only. It's like we are back in 2012. Their ideology seems to be blinding them to reality. Nevermind the fact that they can have NO effect on Bitcoin (the UK market is <1% of btc and the Guardian readership is a fraction of that again), they seem not even to be aware of the enormous altcoin market that has sprung from Bitcoin!
O.k let's imagine the Marxists get their wish and Bitcoin is made 'illegal' by the G20, then what happens? Another bout of volatility in the markets followed by business-as-usual of course. You can't buy btc from your bank account anymore? Fine, you'll just buy something else and then exchange it for btc. Well, that law was a waste of time! Or we simply all switch to a different 'daddy crypto'.
This would be a rant in the wind if this was just an isolated article from the paper, but search their website and note whether each Bitcoin article that comes up is pro or anti. You'll find the overwhelming majority are anti. It's a fascinating phenomena to watch, I think they honestly think they are shaping events with their rhetoric! In the end, the Guardian will close (it's been loss-making for many years) and bitcoin will carry on regardless like the money-badger it is.
