My mum planted the tree some years back. Her motive is to harvest the fruit them give them away to relatives and friends.
She was asked why she doesn't go to the Mercado and sell them to the fruit vendors for some profit. Her response: Going to the vendors, they will haggle for a price that's just like giving it away and both parties come out both feeling awkward. Now giving it away, her relatives and friends are happy and she also feels happy giving them her gift. The result is much better than getting a small amount of money.
Moral lesson: Friends and family are more important than money.
