8 Years....
That was ages from whence this little start to a planned story started. Based off of a short story I wrote 20 years ago, lost of course to time immemorial, unsaved onto my personal files. I had planned to do Chapter 2 but again the will to write the story and the story escaped me completely after I pressed the full stop. A dreamers dream to write a good write up.
Chapter 2
A faint water drop echoes through the musky dark tunnel. My eyes slowly opens but the sight around me is not coming, it is dark and the air is cool. My breathing is heavy and long coming from my slumber. A sound like a scraping claw slowly comes closer, this woke me, my clothes are wet from the moist ground I am slumped on. I search through my foggy head the last vestige of memory lurking inside. Running. I remember the harsh breathing as I try to get away. From what? No memory. It is a black haze but One thing for certain fear jolts over my body. Think! Nothing.
My legs feel heavy and a burning sensation runs up and down the side of my right leg. Unsure if it is wet from the ground or my blood. It feels sticky as I slowly feel it.
The scraping does not stop its slow advance to me. My body is slowly to follow my will to get up. The dirt on my face reminds me I have been lying here for sometime. Thumping slowly rising my heart tells me I am still alive. I shake my head slowly, as I do my brain feels like its loose inside. I should not do that again else I will blackout in this maddening darkness. My breathing slowly rises ever deeper only stopped by the pain that lingers throughout my torso. The various scrapes stinging as I try to move off of the floor.
Straining my muscles burn but it is drowned out by the now growing dread of the closing scrape, it is clearer now, not just one claw, claws dragging and scraping reverberating on the walls and the bottom of the tunnel floor. Panic sets in but I try to control the fear down and concentrate on using the wall to guide me away, I hope it does not sense me.
Is it toying with its food? I hear a low growl deep inside a bulky frame. Guttural and moist. Out the distance behind the sound I can faintly see a glow but not enough to illuminate anything, is it my imagination? No. I see a big blurring mass scraping in time to its slow deliberate crawl, if I can call it that.
Wake up... the voice echoes in my head, the last fading sound as I came to. How I wish the dream was where I was...
