Today I'm submitting to the #monomad challenge some macro shots with the subject of a furrow spider (Larinioides cornutus). Having a fat belly that is more dominant than the rest of the body, I can confirm that this is a female.
Unlike the jumping spider or the orb-weaving spiders, the furrow spider tends to be calm and sedentary. If you set firecrackers nearby, she doesn't care about that, and just stays quiet in her place.
But that doesn't mean she will remain calm if an insect tries to approach her because she will definitely kill it. Yeah, she has strong jaws that are deadly enough for self-defense.
