The valley near the Lhok Gajah reservoir in Suka Makmur, North Aceh, is my favorite spot for macro photography. I saw various types of bee species there. The abundance of weeds with blooming flowers and the grassy ground make the valley home to a wide variety of insects, especially bees and wasps.

Previously, I shared some photos of the species Megachile sculpturalis, also known as the giant resin bee, so this time I will share some macro photos of Megachile petulans, also known as the petulans leafcutter bee.

M. petulans is smaller than M. sculpturalis. It has green compound eyes with black spots, a light brown body, an abdomen with black bands, and orange fur on the underside of the abdomen.
