I've captured a cluster of mushrooms in these frames for you mushroom enthusiasts. It wasn't difficult for me to identify it as the honeycomb fungus of the genus Favolus, more specifically Favolus brasiliensis.
Although I almost misidentified the mushroom at first because I thought it was the oyster mushroom. Despite the similarities between the surface of the cap and the very short stem, this is clearly incorrect.
The obvious difference can be observed at the bottom of the cap, where the oyster mushroom has dense gills and the honeycomb fungus has rather large pores arranged radially, mimicking a beehive.
This mushroom, on the other hand, is edible like the oyster mushroom, and for sure, it will be a delicious menu item on the dinner table. Have any of you tried it? Except for the straw mushroom, which is one of my favorite menu items, I haven't had it at all. But it appears to be worth trying that.
