Hello, fellow Hivers! It’s that time again—time to go mushroom hunting for all the mushroom enthusiasts out there. During this delightful rainy season, various types of mushrooms have emerged in abundance, blooming beautifully to welcome the arrival of the rains. It’s only natural, as the rainy season provides the perfect conditions for many fungal species to grow and thrive. As mushroom hunters, we certainly love this situation, as it makes finding them so much easier. This time, I visited a garden, eager to search for types of mushrooms I had never encountered or seen before. I truly hope to share something new with you all here. I am diablo-elnino@diablo-elnino, and this is my mushroom contribution for today.

This is my contribution to the #FungiFriday challenge by ewkaw@ewkaw .

Here are some images that I would like to share below:

As I mentioned earlier, today I visited a wooded area with the intention of finding a specific type of mushroom. The journey was quite easy and close to where I live, which made me even more enthusiastic about the day. Eventually, I discovered a spot where these mushrooms were growing. I encountered a type of fungus I had never seen before, so I approached it, took a closer look, and captured some photographs using my smartphone. Based on my search on Google, this is a species of mushroom known as Panus conchatus. These mushrooms are frequently found on the wood of deciduous trees—specifically on stumps, logs, and large fallen branches. They prefer hardwoods such as beech, birch, and ash, and are very common in areas where oak and tanoak trees are abundant. The fruiting bodies can appear singly, in scattered groups, or in dense clusters, sometimes even fused together. Key Characteristics: • Cap: Funnel-shaped or shell-like, with a light purple or lilac hue that gradually fades to brown as it matures. • Gills (Lamellae): Located on the underside of the cap, these are pale purple or pinkish, closely spaced, and extend down the stem (decurrent). • Stem: Short, sturdy, and typically positioned off-center or laterally.
