I thought about waiting until next @NeedleworkMonday but I couldn't help waiting it ... ;)
Actually the chairs are a copy of Cesca Chairs. We use them as dining chairs. I don't know why but my partner broke them one after another. He is lighter than German average or more like a slim person. Hmmm.
As three out of four chairs were broken, it's time to repair them. The last one in a OK condition is kept for me.
In the beginning I thought about reusing the seating part but I couldn't come up with a good idea. So I decided to completely replace it. I bought a wooden plate at a home center and asked them to cut it in the seat size. I removed two corners with a hand sow at the home center and filed the edges.
The foam is from a sewing store. Luckily I could cut it straightly with my regular home use cutting knife.
I sewed few parts with my sewing machine and wrapped the plate and the foam together. Pins were to make tension on the fabric.
An upholsterer's needle helped me a lot. It was away easier than to work with a straight needle, which I did when I upholstered my daughter's dining chair last year. But still a lot of pain on my fingers ... so maximum one upholstering a day ;)
The final part is to attach the seat with the other parts. I prepared holes with my hand drill. I should have done it before I cover the plate with the fabric as the drill rolled in the fabric. I made hole on the cover separately and drilled the plate.
It seems everything worked well. My partner likes the remodeled chair. I'll see how it works for few weeks and work on other two ... or three chairs.
