Since I saw the CryptoKitties boom ($1M+ was spent on digital cats!), I wonder what is the benefit to use Ethereum blockchain for an app rather than using a conventional database such as mySql?

イーサリアムブロックチェーンを使ったアプリCryptoKittiesのブームすごいですね。1億円以上デジタル猫に使われたとか。そんなことを聞きながら、プログラマーのはしくれとしてイーサリアムのブロックチェーンを使うメリットって何があるのだろうと考えます。MySqlなど普通のデータベースでもよさそうなものです。
もちろんいくつかメリットはあって以下はわかります：
