Since I saw the CryptoKitties boom ($1M+ was spent on digital cats!), I wonder what is the benefit to use Ethereum blockchain for an app rather than using a conventional database such as mySql?
I understand there are some benefits such as:
- Kitties still exists on Ethereum blockchain even if AxiomZen stops developing it.
- Ether (or other crypto) blockchain has an affinity for handling payment with its token.
That's right ... but I need something stronger to convince me. Do you have any idea? I will read through some more articles next days.
イーサリアムブロックチェーンを使ったアプリCryptoKittiesのブームすごいですね。1億円以上デジタル猫に使われたとか。そんなことを聞きながら、プログラマーのはしくれとしてイーサリアムのブロックチェーンを使うメリットって何があるのだろうと考えます。MySqlなど普通のデータベースでもよさそうなものです。
もちろんいくつかメリットはあって以下はわかります：
- 開発元のAxiomZenが開発をやめてしまっても猫はブロックチェーン上に残る
- イーサリアムや他の仮想通貨のブロックチェーンはそのトークンでの支払いと親和性が高い
スマートコントラクトも・・・たしかに。でももうちょっと、どどんと納得させてくれる何かがほしいです。この数日もう少し記事など読んでみようと思います。何か思い浮かぶ方いますか？
